My timelapse/motion control rig is becoming way to complicated/sucking up all my time/reducing my life span. Here is the current design. Lets say it's functional rather than attractive. Is this art? Well, it will have creative outcomes, it's a means to an end. I’ve been busily programming the controller, which is getting really boring, so I'm going to start construction next week. Anyway, I’m off to Oktoberfest tomorrow, so bugger it, I’m going to drink beer.
Last night I finally got my motion control thingo working. Although this doesn’t look like much, this set up lets me move the motor in .2° precise steps. It would get even smaller if I added some gears. It’s surprisingly fast too, it is really moving in .2 increments in this video.
When my DV camera arrives, im going to whip up something similar to Michael Gondry’s Kyle video (if he had no money):
Basically, the motor will let my move my camera over a path exactly every iteration, so you can do really simple cloning.
There are tons of things you can do with mo-co, like rep-rap, it builds it self, first replicating machine ( I love this project):

So should be an interesting couple weeks playing around with this.
I've come up with a ton of idea, but I just havn't made any of them yet. I have been busily working on a time lapse rig, re-programming my wii-mote, and mocking up concepts for interactive clothing.
But yeah, for now, here's a picture of me in a 1970s yearbook. www.yearbookyourself.com
